World Sailing is seeking people with a passion for sailing to help shape the future of the sport by applying to be members of its commissions and committees.

The 2024 World Sailing nominations process will see existing commission and committee members leave their post after serving the sport for several years. This creates the opportunity for new members to channel their enthusiasm for sailing into making a real difference for thousands of sailors around the world.

David Graham, World Sailing CEO, said, "Our vision for sailing is one of a progressive sport leading the way in its commitment to gender equity, sustainability and innovation. This is the perfect opportunity to bring in new perspectives and expertise, while also increasing the geographical representation essential for a global sport. We are seeking passionate sailors and individuals who feel they can make a positive difference to our sport to step forward and help us achieve our goals."

The closing date for applications is 1 August 2024.

Under the new Governance Reform measures there are now maximum terms of office and a strong commitment to gender parity on the committees and commissions. Stakeholders are asked to consider this carefully when submitting nominations.

The chairs, vice-chairs, and members of committees and sub-committees will be appointed by Council on the recommendation of the Board. Commissions are appointed by the World Sailing Board.

It is anticipated that all appointments will be communicated on or before 20 January 2025 after the new Board and Council have made their decisions on the appointments.
